Dazzling Daze

December 3-6 found 9 of us at the beach in Encinitas, California making a new doll.  Eight of us spent five nights in a 7-bedroom house on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean.  It was fabulous.  But, I best explain what and why.
Five years ago I started my Dazzling Daze "in-house" workshop.  The last one held in 2006 showed that our house was simply not suited for a workshop.  I took a year off and searched for a place to hold my next one and found this house.  It was perfect with a large living area where we could spread out and set up sewing machines and a place to dye our stuff.DazzlingDazeSunset

The deck, over looking the ocean, was the perfect place to dye the silk fabrics, rods, cocoons, laces, etc.  We had beautiful breezes to help dry everything quickly.

Those participating were:
Pat (San Diego), Emma (Texas), Liz O (Pasadena), Liz F (Nevada), Marilyn (Washington), Judi (Arizona), Jacquie (BC, Canada) and Louise (Vermont).  Those from the cold places loved our mild weather.

DazzlingDazeNights
Our nights were spent catching up on the days projects, sitting around chatting, working on our Dazzling Daze Bags, and occasionally going out for dinner.

I had purchased some fun bags and even more fun stuff from ArtGirlz for us.
The idea was to have a memory, besides the doll made, so we'd never forget our time together.  If you've ever purchased things from ArtGirlz you know what cool stuff they have.  Liz O is pointing the the bag that Louise has almost finished.

One of our favorite passtimes was show and tell.  Liz O and Emma had taken my class at EDAC in Albuquerque.  They both brought their Deowyn's to share.

Liz Finley shared her project from one of our cruises.

Liz has been on all of the Cruising with Soft Doll Cruises.  This next year will find her with us again.  This time we'll have 4 teachers.  Check out my website for more

information on the cruises.

Liz is holding part of a flat mermaid journal.  On each cruise we add pages to the journal.  Hers is beautifully done and I can't wait to see what she adds this neDazzlingDazeSewingxt year.

I'm having problems uploading more images.  I'll post this and start another post.
